The requirement analysis process is crucial to perform in the initial stages of ontology engineering. It certainly provides an initial basis in realizing different requirements that are expected from the envisaged ontology by its end users.

Some of the key actions may involve checking:

1 Correctness: The requirements represent the heterogeneous client’s view.

2. Completeness: All possible scenarios are described, including exceptional behaviour by the user or the system

3. Consistency: The functional or non-functional requirements whether or not contradict each other

4. Clarity: There are no ambiguities in the requirements.

5. Realism: Requirements can be implemented and delivered via envisaged ontology.

Of course, the requirement analysis is crucial in the beginning of an ontology
